Traning and Education

HASA believes in education and training, and boasts, through its hospitals, programmes designed to spawn a highly skilled and motivated professional force. Most of these training programmes are designed to train nurses, the backbone of the hospital sector but also provide for management and non-nursing skills.

The nursing programmes are for those who want to specialise or graduate to positions of more responsibility. Besides improving high-care skills such as theatre, catheterization laboratories and emergency units, private hospitals train undergraduate nurses.

Student nurses work under supervision during their training and are accompanied by clinical tutors. Registered Nurses are also trained in Operating Room techniques, Intensive Care Nursing, Cardiac Care, Neonatal ICU and many more. Public Private Partnerships have also been implemented to promote the training of nurses. Nursing remains a field boasting one of the highest employability rates in the country.

The vision is to plug the ever-increasing gap as a result of loss of skilled personnel of nursing and healthcare related professionals to other countries or non-healthcare professions. Exciting new career programmes such as the Surgical Technologist (2-year programme) and Clinical Engineering Technician’s Assistant (1-year programme) are offered to support and stimulate the growth of Ancillary professions within Healthcare.
