The lack of access to adequate healthcare for a larger portion of South Africans is a major challenge that needs government and private institutions to work together to address. The proposed Health Sector Charter is therefore a step in the right direction. Click here for a copy of the draft.

Hasa encourages its members to engage in constructive public-private partnerships to ease access to a high standard of healthcare. Presently, it seems like, only the employed access private healthcare while the overburdened public sector provides medical care to a long queue of patients who can’t afford medical aid premiums. The association is, therefore, committed to all initiatives to improve access to medical care.

Hasa believes that addressing the need for better infrastructure, clinical skills, and training facilities will be more effectively achieved by working together with government and other stakeholders. For further information on government policy governing the private hospital sector click here.
